Miui V6 rom for Sony Xperia Z1 compact D5503 amami

Install kitkat based Miui v6 rom on Sony xperia z1 compact D5503 aka amami.It was launched with android jellybean 4.3 and has been updated directly to lollipop.This miniature variant of xperia z1 is yet to receive latest version of android.Though there were many kitkat based roms if you want to try a rom which gives you a completely different and experience when compared to regular and stock ones then you should give a try to miui.

Sony xperia z1 compact is snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.2 ghz with 2gb of ram and 16gb internal storage.It sports a 4.3inch  720p display with shatter proof glass and X-Reality Engine to boost colors.On the front there is a 2mp camera and rear has a huge 20.7mp camera. A non removable 2300mah battery power it.Device specific code name for it amami while it has a model number as "D5503".
Before proceeding further:
  • Root:You must have root access on your Sony Xperia z1 Compact.
  • Battery: Charge your Xperia Z1 compact to at least 90% so that you wont encounter any battery related problems while flashing this rom.
  • Backup Efs partitions: Backup all your efs partition of your sony xperia Z1 compact on current Rom or firmware.Just in case if you loose signal you can just restore it back.
  • Backup:Backup all your data which includes contacts,apps,photos videos etc everything to computer or any cloud networks as flashing Miui v6 rom on Sony Xperia Z1 compact will will wipe all your data.
  • Lock Gps:Lock your gps position on your current rom.If you use this a lot then you have to lock it so that it could work even after flashing other roms.Its easy to lock gps .Turn on gps in settings and find your current location in google maps and now now have locked on to gps.
  • Custom recovery: You need a custom recovery(Twrp or cwm) installed on your Xperia Z1 compact.Without it you can not flash roms at all.
  • You must have a unlocked bootloader.

It might take some time for xiaomi to update miui to latest version of android but till then we have to use this kitkat based rom.This rom is ported by xda senior member "oregon69" for z1 compact D5503, a big thanks to him for porting this rom.This rom though has looks of ios will definitely give you a different experience for sure.

Coming to miui v6 for sony xperia z1 compact it is stable for daily usage and has decent battery life too.This rom is still in testing phase which means it has bugs.Though all features which are essential for daily usage are working fine you might experience lot of force closes if you flash gapps.
Features of miui v6 rom:
  1. Miui Launcher: This launcher is completely different from other aosp launchers which you are familiar with.Feature no app drawer and apps resides on home screen it self.
  2. Traffic indicator: Network traffic indication is also available for ongoing traffic.Both download and upload speeds are displayed at same time on status bar.
  3. Theme engine: miui is one of the first rom to offer a theme engine.There are lacks of themes in mi store and some are paid versions too.Yo can use mi tools which is a modified xposed framework to run on miui to get all paid themes for free.With this theme engine you can change wallpapers ,boot animations,ring tones, navigation panel theme,status bar theme,lock screen theme,icons and what ever.You can even overlap individual theme elements too.
  4. Utility tool: This helps to clear cache,virus scan,permission etc.
  5. Guest mode: Guest mode is enabled by default and is locked in privacy protection.

Flash Miui using on Z1 compact D5503 using Twrp:

  • Download Miui v6  rom for xperia Z1 compact and Gapps transfer it to sdcard or internal storage of your device.
  • Power of  device completely and wait for few seconds to confirm that it is off completely.
  • Press power button and when device boots up leave power button.
  • While your Xperia Z1 compact is powering up you you will notice led light blinks.When this happens you have to press either volume up or down continuously until it boots into recovery mode.
  • Sony xperia Z1 compact boots into twrp recovery.

  • Once you are in  twrp click on  backup and select all partitions which you want to backup. It might take about 5 minutes for backup to complete. Don't interrupt backup process.
  • Once backup of your existing rom is completed click on back button.Wipe data,cache and dalvik cache and wipe system partition too.
  • Now select Install and navigate to location where you have placed your Rom and gapps zip files.
  • Flashing this might take about 5 minutes or so.Once flashing is complete do a factory reset again.
  • Now reboot to system.Wait at least 15 minutes for initial boot to complete and once done you can explore its features.
Since this is port there are chances of bootloop and when this happens you have to force it to shutdown by holding power button for 15 seconds.Once it goes off completely use button combinations to put it into recovery and restore backup.

Flash using CWM recovery:

  1. Download miui v6 (Blackra1n-MIUI-6.zip) and transfer it to sdcard or internal storage of device.
  2. Power of the device completely and wait for at least 10 seconds to make that it is completely off.
  3. Press volume up,power button and home key simultaneously and once you see boot loader screen release buttons.
  4. Using volume down as a navigation button move to recovery and click on power to confirm action.
  5. Once you are in CWM recovery click on backup and then backup existing ROM first.It might take 5 to 10 minutes for backup process to complete and don't interrupt it in this process.
  6. Go back and click on wipe data factory reset.Once done just scroll down and wipe cache partition too.
  7. Click on install and choose "select from storage".Navigate to location where you have placed the zip file.Select it and flash it.
  8. Once Rom is flashed click n back and select install again.This time select google apps and flash them. 
  9. Reboot to system.Wait at least 20 minutes for initial boot to complete and once done you can explore ROM features.
If you don't resize your system partition then don't try this Rom as it wont boot up at all.If you have already repartitioned then you are good to go.For any other queries don't forget to leave a comment below.Since this rom is only meant for only Gt-i9100 variant dont flash this on other variants as you might end up bricking it.

Install cm 11 based Miui v6 rom on sony xperia V tsubasa

Sony xperia v is budget device with water repellant coating on it.This water resistant snapdragon dual core processor recevied its last update from sony as jellybean 4.3.If you want to have kitkat on your device then its only possible through custom roms.
Miui v6 is finally available for sony xperia V tsubasa.If you have tried all other aosp based roms and want swtich to a rom with different experence then you should give a try for this rom.Though it is a cm 11 based custom rom and you will not find any features of cyanogenmod in it.Check out features list below if you want to know more about this.
If you are confused with the name tsubasa,it is a device specific code for sony xperia V which you can find it in build number or somewhere in about device.
Prerequisites:
  • Root:You must have root access on your sony xperia V tsubasa.
  • Backup:Backup all your data which includes apps,contacts,photos videos etc everything to computer or any cloud storage as flashing this Miui v6 on sony xperia V will erase datafor sure.

Flash Miui V6 on Xperia V using recovery:

  • Make sure that you are running cyanogenmod 11 custom rom before flashing this.
  • Download Miui V6 for Xperia V(miui-V6-tsubasa-NEO.zip) and Gapps transfer it to sdcard or internal storage of your device.
  • Power of  device completely and wait for few seconds to confirm that it is off completely.
  • Press power button and when device boots up leave power button.

  • Sony xperia V boots into  cwm recovery or twrp.

Wait for at least 20 minutes for initial boot to complete and if didn't boot then press and hold power button for about 15 seconds and this will turnoff it completely.Once it goes off using volume button combinations reboot to recovery.If you are using twrp recovery and since you have a cm 11 backup click on restore and select only boot.img and swipe to confirm restore.

Once cm 11 boot img is restored wipe data,cache and dalvik cache and reboot it to system.This time it should boot.If it still fails to boot then you have to wait for another update.If you are facing too many system ui force closed then flash rom without gapps and see if force closes are stopped.

This rom is compiled by a xda senior member "pintothakur007" for both canvas nitro a311 and a310 devices, a big thanks to him for bringing this amazing rom for this device.
Prerequisites:
  • Root:You canvas nitro a311 or a310 must be rooted.
  • Backup:Backup all your data which includes apps,contacts,photos videos etc everything to computer or any cloud storage as flashing this Miui v6  in canvas nitro a311 or a310  will erase data.
  • Battery: Charge your canvas nitro to at least 90% so that you wont encounter any battery related issues while flashing this.

  9. If rom fails to boot or it has soft bricked then press and hold power button for 15 seconds and it force shutdown.Reboot it to recovery and this wipe system again and flash rom again.

If you are bored of trying all aosp or cm based customs on your note 2 and want to go for different custom rom then miui is one of those roms which gives you a different experience.Though it feels like some what ios you will definitely love this rom for sure.

  5. Your note 2 now boots into twrp recovery.
  6. Once you are in twrp  click on  backup and select all partitions which you want to backup. It might take about 5 minutes for backup to complete. Don't interrupt backup process.
  7. Once backup of your existing rom is completed click on back button.Wipe data,cache and dalvik cache and wipe system partition too.
  8. Now select Install and navigate to location where you have placed your note 2 Rom and gapps zip files.
  9. Flashing rom might take about 5 minutes or so.Once flashing is complete do a factory reset again.
  10. Now reboot to system.Wait at least 15 minutes for initial boot to complete and once done you can explore ROM features.
