If you have android one device and waiting for the google to release official update and got disappointed no worriers we already have much better cyanogemod 12.1 custom rom for our android one devices.Except for few bugs all features of cyanogenmod 12.1 rom are working fine on android one devices.
About android one: With the intention  to bring latest android updates to lower end devices google partnered with emerging mobile players and released android one program. In this program google will take care of software support while the hard ware is provided by partners.This seems to be similar to "nexus series" line up.But the difference is that android one device are much affordable than nexus devices and that too they are available only few developing countries.

Install android lollipop on android one devices using cyanogenmod rom: 

  Prerequisites:

• Charge your android one mobile to at least 70% so that you don't run into any problems.
• Backup all your apps and data on your device to external sdcard or computer as flashing cyanogenmod (cm 12.1 )rom will erase all the app data on your device including contacts.
• Enable usb debugging on your note 3.Of course you don't need to do this for sure but enable it.Download cyanogenmod rom and gapps if you need them.
• Backup Efs and modem partitions of your android one mobile.
• You must have a custom recovery like Twrp  installed on your android one device.

Cyanogenmod is one of the best custom roms available in android development ecosystem.They support lot of devices and only which has official kernel sources.This rom is based on android open source project with lot of added features. One which we have here is unofficial cyanogenmod rom for all android one devices.
All basic functions like camera,phone calls,data,bluetooth,wifi are working just fine and you can use it as a daily driver for sure.Since we have dual Sims developer confirmed that both sims are working fine.
Features:

• Theme engine: Theme engine is from the cyanogenmod custom ROM which basically changes the look user interface from lock screen  to ring tones all the way up to boot animations.The speciality of the theme engine is the ability to choose individual elements of every theme you have installed.So you like the ring tons and wallpapers of one theme and icons of other theme then you can have them at a time.Just open the theme chooser and you will understand how to do it.


• Performance control:A default CPU manager app to control frequencies and governors . You can adjust CPU frequencies and also set them on boot too.
• Trebuchet: This is the default launcher that ships with cyanogenmod ROM.But if you flash gapps then you might loose this.It doesn't have too many features like nova or other launchers but its simple and fast.
• Software Updates: Cyanogenmod ROM is usually available in three types one is nightlies which gets updated with new features every night and are quite stable for daily usage.second one is the snapchat which is monthly build version which will be stable version and other one is the release candidate.Some times nightlies are considered must stable than the snapshots. 
• Status bar Tweaks:Status bar has lot of tweaks which include a brightness slider.Slide in status bar to adjust brightness of the screen.Double tap on status bar to sleep device and also network speed indicator for on going traffic info.

1. Download cyanogenmod rom for android one (cm-12.1-20150329-UNOFFICIAL-sprout.zip ) and Gapps transfer it to sdcard or internal storage of device.
2. Power of the device completely and wait for at least 10 seconds to make that it is completely off.
3. Press volume up,power button and Volume simultaneously and once you see boot loader screen release buttons.
4. Using volume down as a navigation button move to recovery and click on Volume up to confirm action.
5. Once you are in CWM recovery click on backup and then backup existing ROM first.It might take 5 to 10 minutes for backup process to complete and don't interrupt it in this process.
6. Go back and click on wipe data factory reset.Once done just scroll down and wipe cache partition too.
7. Click on install and choose "select from storage".Navigate to location where you have placed the zip file.Select it and flash it.
8. Once Rom is flashed click n back and select install again.This time select google apps and flash them. 
9. Reboot to system.Wait at least 20 minutes for initial boot to complete and once done you can explore ROM features.
